Good Saturday morning church

So, tomorrow we celebrate "Father's Day."

Father's Day is the 17th most popular celebration of the year. Mother's Day is the 2nd. Halloween is 6th. Now, I guess goblins and candy are more important than dad. I won't go there. Yet, fathers are vital to the upbringing of children. Any of the problems we have today are due to the lack of involved fathers in the family. It has nothing to do with our culture, but rather the concern and effort it takes to raise children in proper manner. Anything in life worth having requires effort and cost. Don't kid yourself. Children left to raise themselves will produce what we see in society today. So, how is that working for us?

As we will hear tomorrow in our Father's day message, there are bad parents in the Bible, and there was a horrible price to pay. Many dads today do not realize or may not care about the influence they have on their children. Our prisons are filled with the result. Let's not blame society or the laws, because children and youth today are doing great. So, what is the difference? My vote is that some fathers care very much about their children and truth be told some just don't. Maybe their kids are distractions to the lives they want to have, while other dads put the well-being of their children first. You decide which one it is. I realize that these words are a little tough and we should praise our dad during this time of the year. Maybe so. Some do deserve being praised, but not all.

Let's take some time to re-evaluate your role. If you are moving in the right direction---GREAT, keep moving in that direction. If not, stop and rethink what changes you need to make.

Make them and move forward.

May your day tomorrow be filled with joy and gladness.

A side note: Some may not have spoken to their dads for months or even years. The Bible reminds us to HONOR your mother and father. Don't leave him out. Make that call, go visit him. Talk things out, and come to a solution or even a compromise. You only get one dad for a lifetime. God made NO MISTAKE when He gave you to your dad.

Much love to all who read this today.
