Good Saturday morning to all

Promises, Promises, Promises!!!

God makes promises in His Word to us. However to have a promise, one must declare it to be his. A promise not claimed or acted upon has the same effect as a promise never made.

Example: If I promise to help you whenever you call me, but you never call you will not receive the benefit of that promise.

In Christianity, God is the promise maker, while we as his children must be the promise claimers.

There is no list in Scripture of God's promises; however, as you read the Bible, you will find them scattered throughout the Old and New Testaments. All of God's promises are rooted in His character.

We choose to believe His promises not because we are good, but because He is God and He cannot lie. That is a part of His character. He is truth, If He said it it will come to pass.

So, as you read His Word, that will reveal His character, and we can trust Him to come through. Make sure you read His Word in context and not with a twisted mindset.

God does not honor foolishness, but humility and respect for His word. Do you honor His Word, or do you just use it to say, "God, you promised me"?

So, here is what we do: Honor God and love Him with a sure heart. One based on who He is and worship him. Not just in song, but in life. Look at His Word; are there promises in there for you? God placed them there. So, be a claimant and receive them for yourself. Be faithful to give God glory and thanksgiving for them.

Much love,

Pastor G
