The Lord is good to those who wait for him,

to the soul that seeks him.

~Lamentations 3:25

Good morning my dear sister!

Thank the Lord for another day! This is the day the Lord has made for you and for me! What shall we do with it?

I’ve been pondering the whole idea of waiting for the Lord and, I must confess, I need improvement in that area. I hate to wait. I must discipline myself to quiet my mind and body to pray and wait, and I do, but sometimes I get antsy in the waiting! Maybe you do too.

Everything about our God is good, so waiting for Him must be good too! The concept of waiting is a byproduct of God’s creation. Yep, our Abba invented it! Bless His Holy Name!

His creation of light and darkness made the first day. On the fourth day, His creation of the sun, moon and stars resulted in the seasons and a sense of movement that would soon be interpreted as ‘time’. Then, on the sixth day, when God created all living things, including a man and a woman, the concept of waiting was born.

Thousands of years ago, King Solomon wrote, “There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every matter under heaven—” Ecclesiastes 3:1.

God has an appointed time for every matter under heaven, including our individual matters, so it would seem wise to wait for His appointed time.

Why does the Lord say that He is good to those who wait for Him?

As God’s children, waiting on Him for direction draws us into a closer relationship with Him as we actively seek and listen for instruction. In His love toward us, and knowing our weaknesses and propensity to wander, the Lord incentivises us with the promise of His goodness as we wait and seek Him!

How many of us as parents have promised good things to our children if they wait patiently? Hmmm…. Guess Who thought of that first?

Another good reason to wait for Him is to keep from making rash and impulsive decisions. How many times have we gotten into trouble by spontaneous choices, acting more from our own urges rather than asking our Abba?

Waiting can be difficult, especially when it means denying our flesh. Gaining mastery over our own desires, even our “good’ ones, brings us more in line with God’s will for us, which is for our good! As we remain close to Him while waiting, God gives us grace, He gives us hope. When we finally see the good fruit of our waiting, we rejoice and our trust and confidence grow in our relationship with Him.

Waiting for the Lord is not wasted time, we are still serving Him! We continue to worship and be edified by God’s Word! We encourage our brethren in their waiting. We minister to and pray with those who are waiting alongside us, wherever we may be! That happened to me once! As I waited in the pharmacy line at Wegmans, a man behind me started talking to me and ended up praying for me! What a comfort and encouragement. Perhaps the act of waiting makes room for the Lord to bless us in a way we don’t expect!

It is never folly to wait for the Lord, His goodness gives us reason to hope in Him! Call to mind what God has done in your life so that your hope in God is a happy certainty! His plans and His timing are the best for us; He holds our future in His loving hands!

Dear sister, all of us are waiting for something, let us turn our waiting time into worship time! Let’s be mindful of those around us who are also waiting, and in every time and season be ready to share God’s love with others who are waiting to hear some good news!

The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul that seeks Him!

We keep loving Jesus and moving forward!

With love, your sister, Celeste
